Day 2

Oh wow! I'm wondering why I feel so crappy today. Headache, queasy tummy... Just lousy. Is it the carb deprivation or is it just a fluke? Regardless, I hope it's better tomorrow.

And Ian, you need to try a non-prepackaged South Beach meal. How does grilled salmon and steamed veggies sound? That's beach friendly. Do you like eggs? Do you appreciate the millions of ways you can cook eggs? Eggs are very South Beach Friendly. Yesterday I had an omelette with cheese and salsa for breakfast with Canadian bacon. This morning - same eggs, different cheese, pork tenderloin (left over from last night) and mushrooms. Both delicious.

Tal, I started yesterday. Come on along. You know we'll both feel great in a couple weeks.

I've had a prepackaged one, but the one I'm talking about wasn't - it involved "substitute" mashed potatoes made of cauliflower. Blegh. I don't like salmon, but the rest sounds good :) Hope you feel better tomorrow!

Lisa, it's the withdrawl. I'm telling you that right now. Your body is crying for sugar. Ignore it. :p

Ian, I had the SB mashed potatoes and just about lost my lunch. I agree they are gross. The thing I missed the most was my third food group! No more pasta, rice, crusty bread with dinner...it's all very sad. I've gone almost all the way to whole grain rice and pasta but sometimes it's just not the same...

There's this Danish guy that sends us chocolate (though he's WAY past due...)

And then there's the rest of the catalog of fat pills that I have a hard time saying no to: Potato chips, Hostess cupcakes, cereal, bread, non-lean meat :P , etc.

As far as I can tell, NOTHING I eat is "good for me" -- though at least I gave up sugary drinks. Except for the coffee I buy for Friday night Guild Wars marathons... Nothing dietic about THAT.

"Mashed cauliflower..." Ewwwwwww.

Sounds like the nasty flu that the majority of Madison is experiencing--not the diet. Personally I've given up on dieting. A little bit of this a little bit of that. My weight stays just about the same year round now. This is the way God intended me to look. And those prepackaged SB stuff just sounds nasty and artifical. How can that be healthy????

Well, I've never used the prepackaged stuff. I had fake eggs with cheese and salsa for breakfast along with some Canadian bacon and it was quite tasty. During this next 2-3 weeks, I'll eat tons of eggs and grilled stuff like chicken, fish, etc. and lots of steamed veggies. It's not so bad. Phase two I can reunite with my cheerios and that will bring me joy. I'll probably break the rules on the banana too.

I am so hopeful it was just a vicious sugar detox or flu bug. But I had no fever, coughing or other upper respiratory symptoms. That's what makes it weird.

I'm so sure it's the sugar detox. It makes you nauseous and headachy and crabby as all get out. I stayed home sick the first time I did SB because I thought I was going to die.
