Hmmm. If you really love what you're doing, then I say yes.
But if you're having second thoughts, then it may not be for you.
Having played both sides of the discussion - do I think you should do it? Can't say - but how cool would it be to be Dr. Sharpe?!
Does the fact that you're calling it a sentence mean you don't want to do it? If so, then no, don't.
I voted for absolutely -- not just because of the pay (though there's NOTHING wrong with quadrupling your pay!) but because you love to learn. Though a PhD is a tough slog. There's no question you would find yourself snarling about opting to try for it more than once during the period in question.
It's up to you, Lisa -- what do you want? How much stress will it add to your daily existence, vs. the pay-off?
And "Dr. Sharp" WOULD be cooler than hell. :)
